Senior Manager/Associate Director, Business Development
RXi Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: RXII) is seeking a highly motivated individual with a track record of business development experience within the biotechnology and health care industry to join RXi’s Business Development team, reporting to the Vice President of Business Development.
Key Responsibilities:
This individual will be responsible for supporting as well as taking a lead on various Business Development initiatives at RXi. Tasks will include supporting strategic partnering/out-licensing efforts with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, including conducting competitive benchmark analysis on potential partners, deal related business analysis, and leading aspects of business due diligence for potential deals. In addition, the individual will also be involved in working with project teams to identify, screen, evaluate, and execute potential licensing opportunities.
To support all these activities, the individual will perform relevant analyses from strategic and financial perspectives, including market research, financial modeling, coordinate with intellectual property counsel on appropriate due diligence, and contract review and negotiation. The individual will be expected to establish processes and timelines and communicate effectively with relevant (internal and external) parties in a project-based environment. The individual may also be asked to support other business development initiatives by developing and coordinating secondary market research and performing various financial analyses, e.g. forecasting, P&L modeling, cost analysis, risk-adjusted NPV, etc. The role may require that the individual represent RXi in public settings and coordinate RXi’s participation in business development conferences, and therefore, the individual is expected to have strong communication skills and be able to prepare and deliver oral/slide presentations. Job Requirements :
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors/Masters degree in life sciences and a Master of Business Administration or a Ph.D., with 3-5 years experience working for a biotech/pharmaceutical company in a business/corporate development capacity.

Research Associate
RXi Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: RXII) is looking for a Research Associate to be an integral part of an interdisciplinary project team working to screen and optimize RNAi compounds in vitro and in vivo with the common goal of developing therapeutics based on RNA interference (RNAi).
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be involved in the evaluation and optimization of RNAi compounds for various disease related genes. Responsibilities include running assays for RNA and protein quantitation as well as other biological endpoints.
Candidates for the position should have experience in one or more of the following areas: RNA preparation from cells and/or tissues, quantitation of RNA (e.g. RT-PCR, B-DNA) and/or protein (e.g. Western blot, ELISA), assay development, cell culture techniques, and running various biochemical and cell-based assays.
Job requirements:
Ideal candidate must have a B.S. or M.S. degree in Cell/Molecular Biology or Biochemistry. Two to four years of post-degree research experience in a biotech/pharmaceutical laboratory setting and/or previous experience working with RNAi or oligonucleotides is desired. Staff Accountant
RXi Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: RXII) is seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join our growing team. This individual will provide accounting support to the Senior Director of Accounting/Principal Accounting Officer and be exposed to a variety of accounting functions in the Sarbanes Oxley environment of a public company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the timely and accurate closing of the Corporation’s books by performing monthly general ledger close duties
- Assist in the preparation of Quarterly Reports on Form 10Q, Annual Report on Form 10-K and other public filings
- Assist in preparing financial and statistical reports for management on a regular and ad hoc basis
- Analyze financial and statistical variances between actual, prior month, budget and re-estimate
- Assist with the application of company accounting policies and procedures
Qualifications:

Postdoctoral Position: Department of Neurology UMass / RXi Pharmaceuticals
Department of Neurology at UMass Medical School and RXi Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: RXII) are accepting applications for a joint postdoctoral fellowship. This individual will join an energetic interdisciplinary team pursuing discovery and preclinical development of novel RNAi based therapeutics for treatment of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
The successful candidate will play a major role in development, evaluation and optimization of RNAi compounds and delivery technologies in the treatment of ALS. In collaboration with the chemistry, discovery and pharmacology departments, the individual will be responsible for compound discovery and in vitro/in vivo validation. This hands-on position requires an exceptional and extensive in vivo skill set including animal model development and validation, varied dosing techniques, and small animal surgical procedures. The successful candidate will be integrated into, and eventually take over, an ongoing program of in vivo disease model development focused on facilitating the advancement of RNAi compounds as a therapeutic for ALS. This position offers a unique opportunity to get training in a drug development process starting from technology development to pre-clinical evaluation.
